Fans of the ABC's Dancing with the Stars may enjoy working out at home with the Cardio Dance DVD.

ABC’s Dancing with the Stars Cardio Dance DVD is a cardio workout best suited for the beginner to intermediate level exerciser. Although the dance moves are not always easy to follow, most of them are slow paced with no impact.

Warm Up

The warm up is easy to follow and focuses on dance movements that will prepare the body for the faster movements to come. There is not a lot of explanation, the viewer is expected to follow along visually, but the moves are slower paced and basic.

Paso Doble

The paso doble is also fairly easy to follow but does not come with a lot of instruction. The workout includes lunges, a lot of marching in place with paso doble foot movements worked in. It is a slow paced workout and would be easy for most people to follow. The workout isn’t difficult and would be great for a beginner or someone looking for a variation from traditional cardio workouts.

Cha Cha

The cha cha, a Cuban dance is higher spirited and faster paced than the paso doble. The instructor starts the dance without any explanation of the movements so it may be hard to follow for those with no background. The cha cha consists of a lot of twisting movements from the lower body with not much upper body movement.

Samba

The samba routine is made up of a bouncing movement while doing different dance steps. The dance moves are pretty easy to follow.

Jive

The jive uses movements that are fast paced and lively. The moves may be hard to follow for those unfamiliar with the dance, but will come easier with practice. The steps are not explained very well but will become easier. This dance is higher intensity with higher impact movements than the others.

The Challenge

The challenge is led by the three star dancers: Ashly Costa, Kym Johnson, and Maksim Chmerkovsky. They give no instruction while they do free form dancing. It will be fun to watch for fans of the show, but hard to follow for most.

Cool Down

Similar to the warm up with slow dance moves working into dance related stretches.

This DVD will be interesting to diehard fans of the show and fans of the Dancing with the Stars dancers. There is little instruction given and most of the dances are not easy to follow for those unfamiliar with them. Overall it is not the best cardio workout DVD available, but will be interesting to Dancing with the Stars fans.
