Denise Austin Get Fit Daily Dozen DVD ReviewIs This Weight Loss System an Effective Home Workout?
Denise Austin does it again with another exercise DVD. Her peppy demeanor and positive attitude are inspiring to some exercisers.
Denise Austin's Get Fit Daily Dozen DVD just might be what every home workout collection is missing. Denise AustinDenise Austin has sold over 20 million exercise videos and has written two books on nutrition and living a healthy lifestyle. She has had her own exercise show on television and is a consultant to the President’s Counsel on Physical Fitness. Get Fit Daily DozenIn this exercise DVD, Denise Austin breaks the workout up into five segments. Each segment covers a different area and is 12 minutes long. The programmable menu allows the user to play any routine in any order. The only exercise equipment required is a pair of dumbbells. Workout PlanThe workout plan menu is set up to do a different workout every day of the week. As the workouts are only 12 minutes each, a more challenging program can easily be put together by doing more than one a day.
Cardio Athletic Fat BlastDenise still has her enthusiasm and positive attitude in this workout. There are some higher impact movements that would be best suited to any exerciser other than a beginner. Lower Body Sculpt/AbsAfter a quick warm-up, Austin works through a series of easy to follow lower body exercises using dumbbells. The routine is run through quickly but is easy to follow and will keep the heart rate elevated. She does a few lunge variations, deadlifts, and kickbacks for the glutes along with several body weight only movements. She ends with abdominal exercises. The movements are quick with no break as there is only 12 minutes of workout time. Cardio Kickbox BurnPunches and kicks make the workout interesting but not too complicated. Simulated rope jumping and jumping jacks are higher impact movements best suited to intermediate exercisers. It is a high energy routine that will keep the user interested. Upper Body Sculpt/AbsFor a 12 minute routine this is a fairly good upper body workout. It would be a bit fast for a first timer. There are dumbbell exercises for each upper body muscle group. Unfortunately the exercises are worked through so quickly that there are not many strength benefits to the muscle. For a lighter, occasional workout this would be a good option for someone short on time. Yoga StretchYoga Stretch is a 12 minute cool down stretch. Unfortunately, there are no yoga poses used and breathing is not mentioned at all. It is an effective stretch and cool down but doesn’t have anything to do with yoga. EffectivenessDenise is supportive and encouraging throughout the DVD. Due to the fast movements and some of the exercises, this would be an appropriate workout for beginner to intermediate exercisers but not for an individual who is brand new to working out.
