When an idea comes to mind, what do you do? Do you act on it, or does it just slip away as easily as it came? You can actually do something about it, if you choose to.

Hello everyone and welcome back to the fitness column. Today we're having a pop quiz!

Have you chosen a goal or two to achieve?

Are you progressing toward that chosen goal, I certainly hope so.

If not, what is holding you back?

I have put together some information you may find useful.

I am well aware of the challenges most of us face when striving to achieve those often elusive goals. Clearly defining your goal(s), motivation, ignorance, time and conditions can all become sticking points if we let them. Let's look at each one individually and understand how to circumvent failure, shall we?

Make your goal(s) crystal clear in your mind. It is imperative that you know exactly what you're striving to achieve. This allows you to formulate a precise plan with the appropriate steps necessary to succeed.

When choosing your goal(s), determine if it's something you really desire to achieve. Then, imagine yourself achieving the goal even before you start, do this everyday, many times per day, while working toward your goal. This will help bring all parts of yourself in alignment with your chosen goal(s), thus creating conditions favorable to success.

Do the research to determine procedures, equipment, location and other pertinent information. This will eliminate wasting valuable time that can be used toward the actual journey. If you're prepared you'll be much more comfortable knowing what to do and exactly how to do it.

Having made the determination, 'this is something I really want', finding time for the process won't be hard. Consider your daily routine; is there some time you can devote to your heart-felt desire(s)? We all have gaps in our day we can better utilize , pick 1 or 2 gaps and make the commitment to use them for your(self) goal(s).

Sometimes we want to wait for the perfect conditions before we begin. Forget about it, the perfect time is now. Now will always be, and, be the perfect time. Remember now is all we have, always. If you haven't started because you are waiting for the perfect time (conditions) then you know exactly what I'm referring to, because you haven't started yet. Don't waste another day, do it now!!!

Decide, investigate, commit and do, it's really that simple.
