Review - Health Club, Tennis and Gym West LondonHarbour Club, Pilates, Yoga, Indoor Courts, Kids Classes, Swimming
Family friendly, free studio classes and children's activities, the premier Harbour Club Notting Hill is a light filled luxury gym with top facilities. Good value if used
There aren't many family health clubs in London that are as pleasant as the Notting Hill Harbour Club. Outside space and indoor natural light make this a favourite place of London's celebrities and Hollywood's visiting A list stars. The Harbour Club reigns supreme with members who prefer the finesse of a stylish environment rather than those who feel that it is more politically correct to suffer in times of recession and frequent the no frills dingy sweat emporiums. Damn the credit crunch! This luxury health club is one of the best gyms in London and gives great value for money if the health and leisure facilities it offers are used regularly. Facilities Included in Health Club Membership FeeFree classes taught by top teachers including yoga, spinning, aerobics and pilates, free secure parking outside the congestion zone, and although membership is a little higher than some of the other clubs there's a free creche with structured play activities that allow mums, dads and even nannies some spare time. Two hours to enjoy a sauna or swim and a vigourous work out in the pro gym, not bad at £8.60 a visit for mother or father and child. Nannies don' t get to use the health club facilities if accompanying the children but can enjoy the delicious food, swim with young kids or if the boys and girls are having a tennis lesson they can watch them through a massive glass window which is a feature of every space in this extremely luxurious health club. This club caters for the A listers with discretion, and other sophisticated members don't bat an eyelid when the celebs walk in. They do however love to chat to Mandy Sergent, the dynamic general manager and the Notting Hill Harbour Club's favourite shaker and mover. Harbour Club Adults Entertainment and Children's ActivitiesSophisticated evening events for adults including poker, salsa dancing, wine tasting and jazz night; fun afternoon parties and activities for children with bouncy castles, face painters, jugglers and magicians are all conjured up by Mandy who could tell a few stories but doesn't. She used to be a heavyweight tennis coach and that doesn' t mean she's fat! Ever discreet, it isn' t in her nature to kiss and tell but legend has it that certain members of the royal family have improved their swing under her watchful eye! Although elegant and trendy, the luxury Harbour Club has a state of the art pro gym allowing the serious fitness geeks to flex their muscles on the latest resistance machines and the unique boxing ring packs a punch and gives the place a lively kick that leaves other clubs way behind in sports facilities. Highly qualified instructors give free inductions and individual exercise programmes to new members but are always around to give excellent advice and demonstrate exercise machines and work out tools. One to one personal training sessions are reasonable but multi packs at discounted prices are the best deals. Vibration Training machines that activate muscles, cardio equipment that gives even the most faint hearted members a healthy boost and a free weights room ar all part of the membership deal. Sweat it out in the sauna or steam room after a swim or work out session and then the temptation of delicious and nutritious food in the restaurant seems a welcome reward. Free Trial Offered by Friendly Harbour Club StaffThe membership team are a charming bunch. Damien, Biljana and Amersa will show prospective clients around the club and give them a complimentary trial to experience the facilities and the club's lively and friendly atmosphere. It's no hard sweat to recommend this state of the art and stylish health club which is a hub of lively activity from morning to evening without ever feeling overcrowded. However, those who are allergic to kids should avoid the tea-time after school frenzy! Be warned, peaktime children's activities, swimming and tennis lessons are between 4 - 6pm weekdays and Sunday afternoons. Not the time to practice the butterfly in the pool nor cavort on the courts. For those who prefer a little passive exercise read the review on the Ionitherme slim and detox treatments which are offered in the club's Amida Spa.
