For one reason or another literally millions of people choose not to exercise; motivation, commitment, time, energy, blah, blah, blah, the reasons go on and on. Well, you just may find it easier to start and stick with a workout program, if you are not attempting it alone. Find a partner, someone to share the joy of getting fit. Ok, I’m being sarcastic here (if it was a joy for you, you’d be doing it already) but honestly, fitness and improved health actually do feel good.
Think about it for a second; you don’t want to work out and millions of people just like yourself feel the same way. What if you could find someone to share the benefits of physical activity with? After all everyone knows exercise enhances one’s life in many ways. If you could just push each other to the edge it would all be down hill from there.

There are many reasons for workout with a partner. In addition to the company you will provide each other while sweating through your workouts you can:
Motivate- working out can be very challenging for some of us, your partner can provide the extra push you need to get and keep you moving.
Accountability- having a scheduled appointment to meet your partner will keep you accountable, if not to yourself, at least to your partner until you can develop more discipline.
Versatility- working with a partner can add fresh perspectives and variety to workouts; you can share tips and information.
Online- there are many web sites specifically for this purpose.
When meeting someone for the first time, meet in a public location and/or take a friend with you.
Gym- inquire at the gym you belong to; there are usually other members looking for workout partners as well.
Sporting good stores- they may have a message boards with customer looking for partners to workout and train with.
Social clubs- join a social club that offers the activities you are interested in. There are running clubs, tennis clubs, biking clubs, hiking clubs, dance clubs etc. you should be able to connect with someone on a compatible experience or fitness level.
Fitness level- you’ll want a partner at or close to your fitness level. This way you can grow together as you share the pleasures and the pains!
Partners who are the same sex and relatively close in ages, although not mandatory, may find it easier to communicate and relate to each other more easily. On the other hand diversity allows for broader experience and learning.
Partners with similar goals and philosophies for achieving those goals, many find training together harmonious.
Although it is important to find a partner you can train with, ultimately communication, individuality and respect will sustain any partnership.
